Labour Department standard contract (for Filipino / Indonesian / Thai / Myanmar / Sri Lankan foreign domestic helpers) requires employers to provide:
- Reasonable privacy — Independent / private room (our wall bed room is 100% compliant)
- Suitable bed — Suitable bed (wall bed with independent spring mattress, more comfortable than sofa bed)

Helper room is so small, 30-50 sq ft — can a wall bed fit?
Yes. Single wall bed (160cm wide) folded up only takes 32cm wall depth, freeing most of the floor. HK helper rooms are typically 30-50 sq ft, we can do vertical-fold or horizontal-fold to best suit the space. We've installed in a 32 sq ft helper room.
When helper moves in, what about the helper's bed?
Helper sleeps on the wall bed (pull down). When helper is off / weekends away, wall bed folded up becomes guest room / storage. No impact on helper, design considers helper's daily routine.
What about helper contract regulations — does Hong Kong Labour Department have standards?
Labour Department standard contract (for foreign domestic helpers) requires: helper must have separate / private room with adequate furnishings (bed / wardrobe / ventilation / lighting). Wall bed fully complies — provides independent bed + wardrobe option. Helper contracts (e.g. Filipino / Indonesian standard contract) do not restrict bed type. Wall bed doesn't affect compliance, actually improves sleep quality.
If I don't hire a helper, how to use this room?
Wall bed (single) folded up daytime for storage / home theater / children's toys / pet area. Friends staying over can pull down the bed in 5 seconds. 10x more comfortable than sofa bed, cheaper than booking a hotel. Children 10+ can make it their personal room.
Helper rooms usually have no window or ventilation — is a wall bed OK?
We handle this specially — use low-VOC water-based paint + E0 plywood (zero formaldehyde). For poorly ventilated worker rooms, we recommend a compact single wall bed + additional ventilation / dehumidifier. After completion, ventilate for 1 week before normal use.
Will the helper break the wall bed? What about warranty?
SBLM hardware has 25-year lifespan, daily operation (1-2 times/day) is no problem. We'll teach the helper + leave an instruction card (available in English / Indonesian / Filipino Tagalog). 5-year warranty covers everything. Annual free on-site check, we'll teach both the helper and you.
