What size is most popular?
Queen 152×203 cm — 65% of our 100+ HK customers choose Queen. Reasons: fits in small master bedrooms (172cm wall width × 38cm wall depth), comfortable for 2 people, same as 5-star hotel Queen.
What size matches HK standard double bed (5ft wide)?
HK standard double 152×190 cm = our Queen 152×203 cm (13cm longer for comfort + Queen sheets compatible). We don't have a "Double 152×190" size — Queen is the natural upgrade.
What size for a flat under 300 sqft?
Most fit Queen. If your layout is too narrow for 172cm wall width, choose Double 137×190 (156cm width) or Single XL 105×200 (124cm width).
What ceiling height do I need?
Vertical wall bed: ≥ 2.4 m. Horizontal wall bed: ≥ 110 cm vertical clearance (ideal for old buildings / HKHA public housing). Ceiling < 2.4 m = must choose horizontal — vertical only leaves 5cm headroom when bed is down.
What wall depth is required?
Single 32cm | Single XL 32cm | Double 35cm | Queen 38cm. When closed, this depth protrudes from the wall. For flush installation, plan recessed wall during renovation.

🔧 Installation (7 Q)
How long does installation take?
Wall bed only: 4-6 hours (one day). With side wardrobes: 6-10 hours. Full custom: 1.5-2 days. Low-noise tools — no neighbor complaints in 100+ HK installs.
How long from deposit to install?
4-6 weeks production at our Kwun Tong workshop after deposit, install date confirmed 1 week ahead. Total flow 6-8 weeks. Rush case (priority queue + HKD 2,000 rush fee): 4-5 weeks possible.
How long is the noisiest part?
Real wall drilling 15-30 minutes (anchor holes). We use mute drill (60% noise reduction). Rest of install is frame / hardware assembly (near-silent).
Can I DIY install?
Technically yes but not recommended — SBLM mechanism needs site-tuning (spring tension calibrated to mattress weight) + 5-point stress test. DIY makes mistakes likely. Self-install option (HKD -1,500) cuts warranty to 5 years / hardware-only.
Will it disrupt my renovation?
If renovating: have your renovator complete wall finish + leave wall mounting points → we install next day (4-6 hours). Zero conflict. We've coordinated with 30+ HK renovators.
Building lift / corridor protection?
Some management offices require lift + corridor floor protection. We coordinate with management, pay protection fee (if charged), install protection on-site. Lift cleaned + restored to clean state at end.
What about install failures?
In 100+ cases, < 1% fail (ceiling / wall structure unsuitable). All failures are detected during free site visit phase — we don't proceed, you don't pay anything.
🛡️ Warranty (5 Q)
What's covered by warranty?
SBLM hardware mechanism: 10 years (loose / broken / stuck = free replacement). Bed frame woodwork: 5 years. Mattress: 1 year. Plus free annual on-site mechanism check.
What does the annual check include?
SBLM hardware oiling + screw tightness check + frame leveling check + correct opening/closing technique training. Approximately 30 minutes. We send WhatsApp reminder every December.
What if I move flats within 5 years?
HKD 3,800 (by address) for reinstallation by original installer — no mechanism damage. If new flat unsuitable (low ceiling), 70% factory buyback within 5 years.
What happens after 10-year warranty ends?
Hardware still 100% functional (SBLM mechanism design life 25+ years). Free annual check stops. You can pay annual maintenance HKD 600/visit OR self-maintain — we provide maintenance kit (HKD 1,200, 5 years' supply oil + screws).
What if WALLBED KING goes out of business?
SBLM US international warranty remains valid (you keep cert) — replacement parts can be sourced from US. Our warranty contract is transferable if HK dealership changes. WALLBED KING has operated continuously since 2018.
🏢 Building / Approval (7 Q)
Do private estates require management approval?
Yes. Engineering application (5-7 working days approval) + HKD 10M public liability insurance + worker permits. We prepare and submit everything — you only sign authorization.
Can HOS (居屋) units have wall beds?
Yes. Engineering application + case-by-case Housing Authority approval (some HOS estates stricter). 6 years of HOS experience (Heng Fa Chuen, Sha Tin HOS, TKO HOS, Tsz Wan Shan HOS).
What about HKHA public housing?
Building Authority written consent required (4-8 weeks). Some units OK, some not. WhatsApp your address, we check records — free.
Old buildings (1960s-70s) — possible?
Yes. We've installed in 1968-era Mei Foo, Whampoa, North Point. Free wall inspection — brick / concrete / soundproof foam each different. If reinforcement needed: 60×60cm steel plate + structural engineer signoff (HKD +4,800). SBLM 750kg load passes.
Village house / detached house?
Yes. Village houses usually higher ceilings (2.7m+) — vertical Queen ideal. May need village house consent (if shared structure). Detached house: no management approval needed.
Brand new buildings?
Best case! New builds have higher ceilings (2.65-2.75m), new wall structure, strict but clear management process. We have 30+ new build cases (LOHAS Park, Festival City, Park Yoho).
Can I install in a rental flat?
Wall beds are permanent installations requiring landlord consent. Some HK landlords say yes — wall beds add property value. Worth asking. Short-term rental not recommended.
